Our friends down under are experiencing the worst wildfires seen in decades. Wildfires have been reported in every state with New South Wales being hit hardest. Human lives have been lost, homes destroyed, wildlife killed and there’s no end in sight.
93.9 the River was recently contacted by a resident of Victoria, AU who has ties to the Cape Girardeau area and asked us to help get the word out about these devastating fires. As part of our core values and mission to serve the community, we’ve compiled a list of reliable organizations that provide information and/or accept monetary donations which directly help the wildfire efforts. Also included, a link to My Fire Watch, which provides an up-to-date map of the wildfire hotspots. Although these fires are not in our neck of the woods, we all belong to this planet and feel strongly about helping those in need through education, donations or simply by sharing information so that others may help.
